๐ต๏ธ My Current Focus
I am the creator of Curiously Code, a skills and mindset coaching platform and community for early careers and professionals from underprivileged backgrounds to upskill, grow personally and professionally and connect with people and opportunities in the technology industry.
Since my career switch into tech, I have had exposure to C#, Ruby, Java and Python, as well as DevOps and cloud technologies on Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. Iโm also a former Code First Girls Volunteer Python Instructor where I taught the 8-week Introduction to Python Programming courses. I have also created and delivered programmes on Software Engineering Fundamentals and Backend Engineering for Java and created materials for a C# programme during my time as a Tech Coach at Tech Returners. Nowadays, youโll see me create fun stuff for Curiously Code, take part in Tech Skills Workshops, where my friends and I run free workshops for the community or hanging around at Codebar.
By night ๐ and on the weekends, you can find me doing all sorts of outdoor activities ๐ช ๐ฅ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ, or something random like playing video games ๐พ๐ฎ and doing some Instax photography ๐ท !
๐ A Brief History: My Technology & Coding Journey
I studied Geography and was exposed to scientific computing at university. I wrote my first line of code whilst trying to find better ways to extract and process some climate data for my climate modelling simulations. After graduation, I worked for a couple of years as a Sustainability Consultant and Business Application Consultant; but found myself being drawn towards technology where I eventually followed my curiosity to find my niche.
My software engineering interest was kickstarted by Code First Girls, where I attended their Web Development and Advanced Ruby courses at Twitter UK and M&S Digital from Autumn 2017 to Spring 2018. Alongside Code First Girls, early in 2017, I moved laterally from sustainability consulting to technology as a Business Application Consultant tasked with implementing Agile software development for the first time in my current company at the time without prior tech experience. I then went on to receive a fully-funded scholarship to attend a 16-week intensive Software Engineering Bootcamp at Makers in February 2019 and have since been exposed to Software Engineering and DevOps practices from a range of roles and industries such as investment management, e-commerce, subscription-based services and tech education.
โญ When I am not doing tech stuff, you can find me:
